The Celtic Football Club has led the Scottish Premiership with the highest average possession in the first-phase technical statistics, according to new research.
The study, which was conducted by the University of Stirling's Centre for Sports Analytics and Data Science, looked at the performances of all 14 teams in the league during the first half of the season.
It found that Celtic had an average possession rate of 62% in their matches, compared to the next closest team, Rangers, who had an average possession rate of 57%.
This means that Celtic controlled the ball more than any other team in the league, giving them a significant advantage in terms of control and decision-making.
The researchers also found that Celtic's passing accuracy was also higher than that of their opponents, suggesting that they were able to create more chances through their passing play.
Overall, the results suggest that Celtic have been playing some excellent football so far this season, and will be looking to continue their winning streak when they face off against Hibernian on Sunday.
