Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Nantes in the first round of the Ligue 1 on Sunday, November 27th. The French giants dominated the match from start to finish, with Neymar Jr. playing a crucial role in both scoring and assisting.
The opening goal came in the 5th minute when PSG striker Neymar unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box that beat Nantes goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. This was followed by another Neymar strike in the 29th minute, this time assisted by Edinson Cavani. Cavani's effort was deflected off the post before Neymar pounced to score the rebound.
Neymar continued his prolific form for PSG, adding a third goal in the 68th minute. He found himself unmarked at the back post and calmly slotted home the ball past Courtois.
In addition to Neymar's goals, PSG also had a strong supporting cast. Marquinhos provided some solidity in defense while Mbappe, who had been out of action due to injury, made his return to the starting lineup. His presence added another dimension to the attack, particularly in the final stages of the game.
Nantes, despite their best efforts, struggled to find a way through PSG's defense. Their only real chance came in the 85th minute when defender Mathieu Valbuena managed to head a corner past Courtois, but it was too late as the clock ran down.
The victory marked PSG's fourth straight win in the league, extending their lead over second-place Lyon to five points. It also brought Neymar closer to breaking the all-time record for most assists in Ligue 1, currently held by Thierry Henry with 330.
This performance not only cemented PSG's status as the dominant force in Ligue 1 but also showcased Neymar's continued dominance on the pitch. With the season just getting started, PSG looks poised to have another successful campaign under manager Unai Emery.
